Sinfonia of St Andrew’s

Date

Founded in 1995, Sinfonia of St Andrew’s has performed a wide range of music encompassing the Baroque and Romantic repertoire with local groups such as the Queensland Choir, Oriana Choir, the Queensland University Music Society, and the Ipswich Cambrian Choir among others.

In 2023 in St John’s Cathedral, Sinfonia of St Andrew’s took part in our ‘Bach to the Mendelssohns’ concert which included the rarely-performed work by Fanny Mendelssohn-Hensel, ‘Oratorium’.

Prior to this, we also teamed up with Sinfonia of St Andrew’s for our performance of ‘The Armed Man’ by Sir Karl Jenkins on 27 March 2021 in historic Brisbane City Hall. If you were not able to attend this concert, you’re in luck as it was recorded and can be seen on Brisbane Chorale’s YouTube channel! Here’s the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p9wnTBHA6HY

But the most significant recent Chorale performance involving Sinfonia of St Andrew’s would have to be our November 2020 performance of Brahms’ ‘German Requiem’. Of course, this was the year of COVID-19 and lockdowns, and the two performances of the ‘Requiem’ with Sinfonia of St Andrew’s turned out to be Chorale’s only 2020 concerts. You can also view these performances on our YouTube channel. Here is the link: https://www.youtube.com/@brisbanechorale3765/videos

So we can’t wait to partner with Sinfonia of St Andrew’s again to bring you some truly beautiful music!
